A Watched Pot Never Boils.....

...but sometimes a watched kettle does. I decided to try some shots of my mini kettle using a Kalimar manual flash on my Leica M8. I actually enjoy manual flash (as opposed to TTL automatic stuff that is great when you have one chance to get it right, but not very soul affirming). I love any flash with scale on the back! it's really not that hard, distance and aperture... set below sync speed and PRESTO! a great exposure every time.In fact, I have a few cameras without built in meters (the latest of which is a Kiev 88) and I use manual flash all the time as an easy way to get the correct exposure without guessing or using my handheld meter.
