More Summer Heat

Anyone who has been in Raleigh this week knows there is plenty of heat out there this summer, but I am referring to the summer conditioning season known as Summer Heat! Another good game and while short handed, they scored a victory! Seems the tournament has forged our heroes into a soccer machine! The setbacks of the weekend forgotten, they made new memories that night. Much happier memories.

Summer Heat!

So last week Summer Heat, Triangle Adult Soccer League's (http://tasl.us/) summer conditioning season, started. They have 2 games a week, and boy, was it hot (the temperature was anyway)! These images were from Wednesday's game and this was the game I came to see when I took the swing pictures (from an earlier post). The other team was short handed and had to forfeit, but they wanted to play so they scrimmaged anyway. They even let the shorthanded team borrow a few players and the referee (which explains the shirtless players)! I selected the best of the breed (in my opinion) to share with you!

This is my Nikon D90 again with the 70-300mm AFS VR lens. I does a great job at sporting events! Actually, see for yourself...

Swinging

Late Wednesday, while waiting for a soccer game I was photographing to begin, I was talking to one of the players and shooting wide angle shots of the field and noticed a lady pushing her daughter on a swing. They seemed to be enjoying themselves and thought it would make a good image, so I struck up a conversation with her and asked her if I could take a few of them (rule 1: be friendly). She asked what it was for and I said they seemed to having such fun that I thought it would make a good image for my photo blog but I was really here to photograph the soccer games that were going on that evening (rule 2: be sincere). She said sure. We had a nice conversation about how kids never tire of swings but sometimes our arms do, and I got some nice images (rule 3: engage with your subject and be real). Most people are pretty open to having their picture taken if they know your intentions are artistic in nature (rule 4: don't be creepy!) and the Leica is a far less imposing camera then a big SLR like the Nikon N90, so it's "friendlier".

Hope you like them!
