The Majesty of Endings

I also was drawn to the row of Porta-Potties stretched out along the edges of the field like a row of sentries. I saw then in my mind's eye as great monuments stretching out along the landscape like Easter Island. I get that they're just toilets, but stick with me a moment and see the majesty!

One Shining Moment

There was one piece of debris evident in the field, though. A lonely Pepsi can. I decided it must be documented! I do consider myself more in the photojournalist vein then the artistic photographer vein. the difference being if I was an artist, I could have reoriented the can to improve the composition. As an photojournalist, I needed to reorient myself to improve the composition (although I do reserve the right to move back and forth between the two camps).

...and yes, I did pick up the can and throw it in the proper waste receptacle when I was through. I needed to do that as a citizen!

July 4th at Lake Benson

The Town of Garner has it's Independence Day celebration at Lake Benson Park traditionally on the 3rd of July. I decided that since there were certainly many images already of the big celebration, I was more interested in the how the park looked the next day! so i grabbed my Leica M8, the Leica 28mm Elmarit and 50mm Summicron, and the Voigtlander 15mm Wide-angle Heliar, and saw what there was to see. Garner did a great job of cleaning up afterwards, as you can see, and it looked almost as if they were preparing to have an event, not having just completed one. Kudos to them! I contented myself to shooting the acoustic structure built for the orchestra, since the post-Apocalyptic wasteland was not available!
