My "lunch"

That I am just eating at 6pm because:

Cymbal cleaning!

I had an Avedis Zildjian ride cymbal that had a lot of tarnish (cough! Cats! cough) and needed to be cleaned. It actually took a couple of passes, and there is still some tarnish on it, but it is a lot better and almost all of the "debris" has been removed.

It sounds better too!

P bass jack and tone pot replacement

I noticed the output jack on the precision bass had did not hold the cable well, and the tone knob had almost no effect, so I decided to replace them.

So it was fairly straightforward: remove the pickguard, unsolder the old jack and replace it with the new one. Then I replaced the tone pot (potentiometer) with a 250K fender pot (the original was 500K). The sound was brighter, but didn't sound as good, so I replaced it with a Gibson 500K pot instead. It sounded a lot warmer and so I was content.

I also decided since some of the pickguard screws were chewed up, I would replace them all with fender nickel screws as well (the original ones were a bright stainless).

And now it sounds good and looks better!

New heads for the reds

I finally got around to replacing the heads on my 5 piece drum set. Actually, I am replacing the heads on the 3 toms only. The snare I did a while ago, and the bass drum seems fine like it is. I think the coated heads look a lot cleaner then the clear ones (at least until they get dirty!)

Soup for the long weekend

Since I have tomorrow off, and to keep from eating junk, I made vegetables (soup).

Turnip
Lettuce
Spinach
Red and yellow potatos
Tomato
Broccoli
Chicken
Noodles
Beef balls
Mung bean

It's simmering now, so no finished pics though. I am sure it will taste as good to me as it for me! Certainly beats a burger!
