Beijing: Yanmingyuan festival

the next day, we went to a festival at the Yuanmingyuan park. It used to be summer palace at some point, maybe during the Ming Period, just guessing, correct me if I am wrong ;).

Actually, you can follow the link and learn more. On this day, they had a festival with roller skating period costumed soldiers, blown sugar sculptures, goat on a stick, and lots of people.

Beijing: the view from home base

I arrived on January 31st in Beijing and was staying in what is halfway between a hotel and an apartment, a kind of extended stay apartment. It was night when I got there, so there were no pictures until the next morning. These are as I emerged from the building and took a look around. Beijing did not look that different from a lot of other big cities. the car models were different. They people were almost all ...gasp...Chinese, but it was not that strange or foreign  to me. This is a good beginning....
