Snow still there a few days on.

That's the thing about 10 inches of snow, it hangs around a while. I decided to make the drive to Smithfield and took some pictures. In fact, one of my errands was to send my last 4 rolls of Kodachrome 25 to get processed before they stop processing it FOREVER! I had taken some of shots of the snow on Kodachrome, but as it will take me a week to get them back, here are some taken with my trusty D300! I hope you like them, especially considering I was also driving when I took them (well some of them anyway)!

The Big Snow

The day after Christmas we had a big snow (as did most of the eastern seaboard, but the important part was it affected me, right? otherwise I wouldn't mention it!) to the tune of about 10 inches, maybe more. I had a momentary loss of power at the house, so I spent part of the day (most of it really) with the Rentzs. I shared with them some Dr Who episodes (...don't blink....blink and you're dead!) and actually had a great day. The part you get to see is the snow on the drive over though, as I was not really in a shooting mood once I got there. It's the photographer's dilemma: you can either participate or document, but not both. On that particular day, I needed to be with them more then I needed to photograph them for you guys, so you miss out. As a consolation, enjoy the snow!

The Early Bird ...

...gets the worm, and on this day that is exactly what happened! My friend, the Red Shouldered Hawk, was hanging out in my backyard and then swooped down from the tree and pounced! It was only after looking back at the images on my computer monitor that I realized it was a worm he was after. I guess I figured he would be all about rabbits or squirrels or something, but being the early bird, I guess his menu was already decided!

Enjoy the images!
